North Carolina Business Connect

North Carolina is full of good businesses. What it is short of is somebody who will say your name in the right room.

the pig pickin'. The Southern gathering around one whole hog, where the guests pick the meat off it together.

What is North Carolina Business Connect?

A group of business owners across North Carolina, starting on the Cape Fear coast around Leland and Wilmington, who introduce each other, by name, to people they actually know.

The coast is growing fast. New people arrive every month with a business to build and nobody to call, and the people who have been here for years have more contacts than they could ever use. A good introduction joins the two, and it is the oldest way business has worked in this state: at the table, by name.

It is also where careers move. Members in North Carolina sometimes meet their next employer, find their next job or make their next hire through North Carolina Business Connect, because the best roles are often filled by someone a trusted person recommends.

Talk to Kayla. Tell her who you are trying to reach and why, and she will tell you straight whether this is any use to you.

In North Carolina, when there is something worth getting everybody together for, a reunion, a wedding, a church dinner on the grounds, somebody cooks a whole hog. It takes all night and more than one pair of hands. Then the guests come and pick the meat off it themselves, which is where the name comes from. Nobody is served. Everybody stands at the same table, talking to the people next to them, and by the end of the afternoon half the county knows each other a little better. Business here has always worked the same way: at the table, by name.
